About the Work

In 2011 I was contracted to do a piece for Dolly Parton’s “Dollywood Theme Park”, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I was asked to create a mascot for their newly built, first of its kind, winged roller-coaster. Called the Wild Eagle. The Dollywood Eagle has an impressive 56-foot wingspan and weighs a staggering 12,000-pounds. This one-of-a-kind three-dimensional sculpture made of a mixture of stainless and rusting mild steel. The ferrous steel will rust and provide contrast in color against the stainless steel, giving the eagle a rustic patina suitable for a turn-of the century theme park. Unveiled February 28, 2012 at the entrance to the latest Dollywood roller-coaster, the famous ‘Wild Eagle’, it continues to amaze and impress tourists from all over the world visiting the park on a daily basis.
